Italian Majors

  Regulations

ITALIAN MAJORS REGULATIONS

Italian Majors is a golf circuit structured into three seasonal phases, chronologically listed in the official calendar, including three tournaments called Majors and one National Final.
The circuit is governed by the Rules of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, as adopted by the Italian Golf Federation (FIG), and by the Local Rules of the hosting club.

1. ELIGIBILITY

The circuit is open to all golfers registered with the Italian Golf Federation and their respective national federations.

2. SEASONAL PHASES

Each seasonal phase consists of 7–11 qualifying tournaments, played over 18 holes Stableford, with three handicap categories (0–11.9 / 12–19.9 / 20–36). The 1st and 2nd categories are reserved; the 3rd category is limited.
The organization reserves the right to modify categories to ensure balanced participation.

In each qualifying tournament, the following non-cumulative prizes will be awarded:
1st and 2nd Net in each category; 1st Gross overall.

At the end of each qualifying event, based on the Net category standings provided by the hosting club, a seasonal points ranking (Open, Master, Championship) will be established with a single overall category.

Points Allocation:

  • 1st Net in category: 25 points

  • 2nd Net in category: 20 points

  • 1st Gross in each category: 18 points

  • 3rd Net: 15 points

  • 4th Net: 12 points

  • 5th Net: 10 points

  • 6th Net: 8 points

  • 7th Net: 6 points

  • 8th Net: 5 points

  • 9th Net: 4 points

  • 10th Net: 3 points

  • 11th Net: 2 points

  • 12th Net: 1 point

In each event, Green Pass Card holders will receive 5 BONUS points.
Points earned in qualifying tournaments will be integrated into a single national ranking.

The following events provide double points exclusively for Green Pass Card holders:

  • Modena Golf & Country

  • Golf Colline del Gavi

  • Villa Paradiso (Major)

  • Golf Verona

  • Golf Folgaria

  • Golf Cavaglià (Major)

  • San Valentino Golf Club

  • Golf Club Ambrosiano (Major)

3. MAJORS

The Majors consist of three tournaments held at the end of each seasonal phase: OPEN, MASTER, and CHAMPIONSHIP.

Net category winners and the 1st Gross of each qualifying event will be invited as guests to the corresponding seasonal Major.

Players who accumulate at least 15 points during the relevant qualifying phase may enter the Major (paid entry) and compete for victory. Other players may participate (paid entry) but will not be eligible to win the Major.

Majors are played over 18 holes Stableford, with two reserved handicap categories (0–18; 19–36).

Prizes:
1st and 2nd Net in each category; 1st Gross.

Category winners and 1st Gross in each Major will qualify directly for the National Final.
If a Major winner withdraws from the Final, the next eligible player from the national ranking will be admitted.

Points earned in the Majors will be doubled and added to the national ranking.
In case of ties, FIG rules will apply.

4. GRAND FINAL

At the end of the season, a Ryder Cup–format Grand Final will be held at Verdura Resort from November 10–14, 2026.

Participants (as guests):

  • The 9 Major winners

  • The top 15 players in the national ranking

They will form two teams. In case of ties in the national ranking, priority will be given to the player with the best score in one of the three Majors.

Format – Ryder Cup:

Day 1: Fourball Match Play (pairs)
Day 2: Greensome Match Play (pairs)
Day 3: Singles Match Play

The winning team will be awarded the ITALIAN MAJORS CHALLENGE.

If qualified players withdraw, replacements will be selected directly from the national ranking.

Final Points Allocation:

  • 50 points for each point earned for the team

  • 25 points for each half-point

  • 0 points for no points earned

Final points will be added to the single national ranking.

The overall ranking winner will be named “Player of the Year.”

5. Tournament Committees

Each event’s Tournament Committee will be appointed by the hosting club.

Any claim must be submitted in writing to the Tournament Committee within 30 minutes of the end of play. If no claim is filed, results will be considered final.
Claims regarding eligibility must be submitted at least three days before the event. Late claims will not be accepted.

Players suspended or disqualified during the season under FIG Rule 3/3B will have all accumulated points reset to zero.
They may re-enter the ranking once the suspension is served.
If suspension is still in effect at the time of the Final (Italian or international), the qualified player will lose the right to participate.

6. Amendments

The Italian Majors Committee reserves the right to amend these regulations and the tournament calendar at any time.
