Norman and Hill Ltd. was founded in London on June 6, 1921 by British Army Colonel Disney, William Rounce, and Posseen Hill. In the following years, the company changed The name Filofax.

In 1930, the first personal organizer was produced: a high-quality leather diary with a ring binder and flexible cardboard inserts; the "File of Facts" that gave the company its name.
