REAL CLUB DE GOLF LA HERRERíA

The Real Club de Golf La Herrería, inaugurated in 1966, is located within a protected natural landscape known as "Finca de La Herreria", property of the Patrimonio Nacional (National Heritage), where oaks, ash trees and holms predominate. It is located 45 km from Madrid and 400 meters from the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, dating back to the reign of Philip II. The 75-hectare golf course is located in a unique enclave: northwest of the Community of Madrid, on the south-eastern side of the Sierra de Guadarrama and at the foot of Mount Abantos. The protection offered by the surrounding mountain range creates a particular microclimate which contrasts sharply with the harsh climate of the Sierra de Guadarrama. It's rare to be able to experience the pleasure of playing golf in a context that has played such an important role in the history of ancient Europe, immersed in a natural environment of exceptional value.

The course is 6,122 meters long and has 18 holes. The first round was completely renovated in 2000 by the renowned designer José Gancedo. This redesign respected the oak grove and the native ash and holm oak forest. The tees, greens and bunkers were modified and lakes were created on holes 1, 2 and 4, bringing the course's par to 71 strokes. The second round unfolds in a more spacious, open space, surrounded by the mountain amphitheater and crowned by the peaks of Abantos, San Benito and Las Machotas.
