The Golf Club Bologna was founded on the initiative of Count Achille Sassoli de' Bianchi: it was established on April 28, 1959, thanks to 28 Founding Members. The design of the course was entrusted to the renowned English architectural firm Cotton & Harris, and the latter personally supervised the construction of the golf course. The first nine holes were inaugurated on June 1, 1961. The second nine holes were built by the engineer Enzo Mantovani in 1964, according to the initial design. Mantovani also oversaw the construction of the Club House, designed by engineer Montini, that same year. Since 1998, with the consultancy of renowned architect Peter Allis, a process has been undertaken to modernize the course while respecting its original style.
The Golf Club Bologna has an 18-hole, par 72, 5,949-meter course, which is constantly updated. The holes are laid out on naturally undulating hilly terrain, creating an interesting and comprehensive layout, immersed in beautiful natural scenery.
