Liguria Golf District

Liguria, facing the sea and protected on the north by the Alps and the Apennine, is all year round a perfect holiday resort because of its mild climate. On the Liguria Riviera, divided from Genoa between the west and the east, it is possible to bathe in a clear sea even in winter or to tan year round on the beaches of the numerous seaside resorts: the Cinque Terre, Santa Margherita, Paraggi and Portofino, Camogli in the east; Alassio, Imperia, Sanremo e Bordighera in the west. The Ligurian Sea is ideal either for scuba diving expeditions and offers a variety of seascapes or sailing, in discovery of hidden beaches and coves. For those who love the sea an absolute “must” is the Genoa Boat Show of international repute, which takes place in October, or the historic meetings of craft such as the Raduno Vele d’Epoca (the meeting of antique sail boats) in Imperia. Liguria offers also beautiful hilly landscapes: medieval towns perched on the hills, such as the inland of Albenga and Arenzano. The province of Imperia hosts Dolceacqua, with the Doria Castle, Apricale with its narrow streets and alleyways connected by steep steps and Triora, famous for its witch hunts. It is also worthwhile discovering Genoa by strolling through its treasure-filled streets, from the hills above Castelletto up to the Old Port, restructured by the famous architect Renzo Piano, to the aquarium of Genoa, one of the most famous in Europe. Along the way there are many refined manors hosting high-valued art collections and precious pieces of furniture: not to be missed are the Palazzo Rosso and the Palazzo Bianco, the two national galleries, Palazzo Spinola, Palazzo Reale and Palazzo Ducale. From the Botanical Gardens of the Hanbury Villa of Ventimiglia to the botanical paradise of San Remo renowned all around the world, magnificent flowers, an infinite variety of of plants and the beauty of gardens in which one can spend a relaxing morning or afternoon, are an emblem of Liguria.
