Franciacorta Golf District

Franciacorta is a wonderful corner of Lombardia, on the north of Milan: hills enriched with wine yards extending from the Po valley to the southern tip of the Lake Iseo.
A land renowned both for the mild landscape and the wines. It is one of the two areas in Italy producing sparkling wines, an activity which has become always more important in the last years, as it got the Docg mark. The name “Franciacorta” went this way to synonym of sparkling wine, worldwide renowned for its high quality.
The commitment and experience in the wine activities is celebrated all over the world: according to the “Traditional Italian method”, the grapes are collected by hand and handled with great care, they ferment in wood barrels imported from France and they then have a secondary fermentation in the bottle for 2-7 years.
The land is mostly hilly and once was dispersed with woods, in the last times underwent to changes because of the implantation of many wine yards that now characterise it. The public bodies on the territory are committed to save the architectonical witnesses of the ancient times (monasteries, churches, abbeys, villas and castles of the Middle Age).
The Franciacorta offers fascinating trips in the greenery, among wine cellars, and can be the starting point to reach Milan, Verona, Mantua, Venice or the Lake Iseo, the Valcamonica and the Dolomites.
