The Torino Golf Club began to take shape based on the idea of 11 individuals: Emilio Belgrano, Eugenio Beria di Argentine, Caberto and Franz Conelli, Filippo and Maria Corti, Filiberto Denina, Ado and Addy Kind, Emilio Poli and Guido Vitale. Hence, the first course was inaugurated in the lower part of the Canavese area, between Lombardone and San Maurizo, in the most classic area of the moorland. Despite having to share the area with the army, in 1924, the club was affiliated with the Italian Golf Federation. Three years later, a new, 9 hole, course was built at the Mirafiori racecourse. Here too, golf and horseracing were forced to co-exist. Once again, it was a question of sharing times and spaces, but this time with the horse races. In spite of endless problems, the golf-horseracing combination proved to be a winning one, resulting in the construction of an additional nine holes in the Maddalena hills. The “real” course arrived in 1956, when it was constructed within the breathtaking surroundings of ”La Mandria” park. John Morrison was responsible for the design of the first 18 holes and, in the years that followed, based on projects by Studio Harris and the architects Marco Croze and Graham Cooke, the course was enlarged to encompass 27 holes and then, the present thirty six.
