The Golf Club Bologna was established at the behest of Count Achille Sassoli de’ Bianchi and constituted on 28 April 1959 thanks to its 28 founding members. The famous firm of British architects, Cotton & Harris, were commissioned to design the course and the latter personally oversaw the construction works. The first nine holes were inaugurated on 1 June, 1961. The second nine holes (1964) were constructed by the Enzo Mantovani engineering firm, based on the initial project of the architects Cotton & Harris as was the club house (1965) designed by the engineer, Montini, complete with swimming pool and all the necessary amenities. Work progressed gradually (initially being supervised by Achille Sassoli de Bianchi) and, today, several, significant improvements, both from a technical and aesthetic point of view, have been made. The Golf Club Bologna, has an 18 hole, par 72, course measuring 5949 metres which is constantly updated. In 1998, following consultancy by the famous architect, Peter Allis, a procedure aimed at modernizing the course in full respect of its original style was undertaken. The holes unfold over naturally undulating terrain to provide an interesting, stimulating course, set within magnificent green surroundings.
